Your Writing Retreat at Cedarmere....

  • Two Workshops inspired by the Long Island landscape and poetry.
  • Space to relax and renew yourself on the lovely grounds of Cedarmere, historic home of poet and civic leader, William Cullen Bryant.
  • Write in a supportive community - sharing is always optional.
  • Plenty of time, materials, and inspiration. Take what you need and leave the rest. The day is yours. 
  • Small group format to receive professional eyes on your work. 
  • Optional gentle movement session by the harbor. 
  • All welcome. Past participants include new and experienced writers, artists, teachers and anyone looking for a calming, creative experience.

Your Facilitators

Christina M. Rau, The Yoga Poet, leads Meditate, Move, & Create™️ workshops in person and online for arts councils, libraries, and other organizations. Her collections include How We Make Amends, What We Do To Make Us Whole, and the Elgin Award-winning Liberating The Astronauts. She moderates the Women’s Poetry Listserv and has served as Poet in Residence for Oceanside Library (NY) since 2020. Her poetry airs on Destinies radio show (WUSB) and appears in various literary journals like fillingStation and The Disappointed Housewife while her prose has appeared in Punk Monk Magazine and Reader’s Digest. Stefanie Maura, MFA, MLS, E-RYT, is a librarian, poet, and founder of the Writing Yoga® Method. She has led workshops at Hofstra University, Queens College, NYC Open Center, the Omega Institute and other venues since 2007. Her poems have appeared in publications such as Southword, Long Island Quarterly, Big City Lit, and Silver Birch Press. She co-hosts a poetry series at Cedarmere and received a fellowship from the Hemera Foundation to bring mindfulness to schools. Her book, Sit, Write, Move: Feel Calm, Awaken Creativity, and Live a More Luminous Life will be released in 2026.
